Kevin Harvick predicts 'super aggressive' Joey Logano’s win at Talladega
Stephanie Amador / USA TODAY NETWORK

Two times NASCAR Cup champion Joey Logano came into the 2024 season seeking redemption after an underwhelming title defence last year. In 2023 he was able to secure just one victory and wasn’t able to remain consistent as needed. So far this season, the story has been somewhat similar with poor luck and execution errors being the major issues for him.

His struggles are doubles due to poor form the whole Ford garage, who are winless, is in this year. Going into this weekend’s race at Talladega, where both the driver as well as the manufacturer has historical been consistent, Joey Logano has hopes of finally ending his 34-race winless streak that started last year after Atlanta win.

He has the vote of confidence from ex-Cup champion Kevin Harvick. The Fox broadcaster has predicted a win by the No:22 Team Penske Racing crew this weekend. He expects the Ford star to be supper aggressive on Sunday and reckons Logano now has a positive momentum on his side after recent top-10 finishes.

I have nothing but Ford’s on my list. I’m going to go with Joey Logano. I think that he knows that this is his opportunity to win. I think he knows that he had that opportunity to win at Daytona. And it didn’t work out. Not by his doing, but I think that — I think that he is going to be super aggressive this weekend. Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

Kevin Harvick names Todd Gilliland as the dark-horse for Talladega

The ex-RCR driver also chose his underdog for the race as well. He expects to see Todd Gilliland to be a contender for the win.  Gilliland has been the best Ford driver on Superspeedways this season and his performance at Atlanta and Daytona makes him still the Ford with most laps led.

My dark-horse? Todd Gilliland. I’m telling you, the Fords have to be all-in this weekend. They have to be all-in. … Those cars have been the best on the super-speedways. It doesn’t always work out, but there’s going to be some crashes and luck that go in with all this. Fords have to win. Kevin Harvick said.

While Todd Gilliland win seems bit improbable despite his prowess, a Ford winning at Talladega is a possibility. The Team Penske and RFK Racing cars would be the main contenders and if they can secure a team game, a victory is possible. A ford win is also something Harvick really wants to see.
