Chael Sonnen has become a huge fan of John Fury’s outrageous antics for promoting fights. Tyson Fury is expected to fight Oleksandr Usyk in a heavyweight title unification bout. Ahead of the fight, John Fury has made some headlines with his ferocious headbutt on the rival team.

UFC veteran Chael Sonnen recently talked about the incident on his YouTube channel. During the discussion, Sonnen revealed that Fury knows the fight business and makes a fool of himself to get attention.

The old man has been nothing but entertainment and it doesn't matter if you are laughing at him. He will sacrifice himself for the show. He's awesome.  Chael Sonnen via his YouTube channel

The incident happened recently when Fury’s and Usyk’s teams faced each other.  As they got closer, John decided to headbutt one of Usyk’s teammates following a heated argument with his rival’s followers. After that, Fury’s forehead was covered in blood

Former professional boxer John Fury has gained notoriety for getting involved in his sons’ rivalries. In November 2022, Fury stripped off to challenge Jake Paul to a fight in the ring during his son Tommy’s fight with Paul. Last year, John challenged Mike Tyson to a fight during the build-up to Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou.

Chael Sonnen believes John Fury’s involvement is incredible for business in boxing

John Fury has been in the fight business for a long time and knows what sells and what doesn’t. The 59-year-old often takes things to a different level when dealing with rival teams. While many are not a fan of such behavior, Chael Sonnen understands the idea behind it.

Sonnen talked about the importance of people like John Fury in the sport of boxing. According to Sonnen, Fury is a great catalyst for promoting fights and creating engagement among fans.

My guy John Fury. I think he's so entertaining. I think he's so great for the sport. I feel he's calculated, I feel he understands it. He knows when to fill in the gaps and that's a big deal.  Chael Sonnen via his YouTube channel

However, Fury might have gone a little overboard this time with the headbutt. Unlike Sonnen, many fans and experts in the combat sports community have criticized Fury’s behavior recently. However, that doesn’t seem to bother Fury and his son at all.
